The vest and jacket came from DressLikeaPirate.com
Hat and sword from the local Halloween depot.
My boots and riding breeches, shirt via ebay.
In case it’s not absolutely clear – I freaking LOVED THIS COSTUME.
All friends have been cropped or blurred, so as to protect the [not so] innocent. And now that the wedding is over, I’ve moved on to a more extreme haircolor.
I had the biggest hair of my life. All I was missing was a sash and tiara, like, such as.
The wedding was a blast. My Halloween costume rocked. There will probably be pictures, once I figure out who doesn’t want their visage linked to mine on the intarwebz.
In the meantime, I’m linking this video – which I love:
I love Halloween. It is, hands down, my favorite holiday.
When we were kids, my mom handmade our costumes and we trick-or-treated the neighborhood. As we got older, my folks joined the Crazy Church and their un-Halloween party was never that great. For one thing, costumes were frowned upon. Halloween (and un-Halloween) are not fun unless you can dress up.
The whole idea of being able to put on someone else’s skin – take on an entirely different persona – is the best part of the holiday.
Most of my costume arrived today (purchased in bits and pieces) and I think I’ve found someone who can make the minor alterations I need. I am completely excited because 1. I’ve got a great reason to dress up. Carly’s rehearsal/rehearsal dinner is that night and they’re encouraging costumes. Bad ass. 2. I’ve got a for reals costume. Not a purchased out of a bag thing, but pieces of clothing that are well made and can be used for a long time (not to mention several different kinds of costumes).
I’m leaning more towards pirate, but George Sand is not entirely out of the picture. I’ll probably decide when I find a hat.
